Manage Housing Growth

Los Gatos is a town of great beauty and history.  We have access to the most beautiful outdoor spaces which we can use to hike, mountain bike or simply relax.  We also have in our community amazing historic homes and structures, which all add to this place we call home.  As we all know, however, Los Gatos is a place facing great change, and it is imperative that we manage this change wisely.

On the Planning Commission, Steve helped manage change and minimize its impact on our community. On town council, he'll do the same: control the size and location of new projects so they don't overwhelm our roads, utilities, and infrastructure, preserve our town's historic character, and still make room for reasonable and affordable housing options. Giving more people a chance to live in Los Gatos is the right thing to do. We should provide opportunities for our police officers, firefighters, and teachers to live in the communities in which they serve.

Improve Public Safety

Everyone deserves to feel safe in our town.  As a result of our location at the foot of the Santa Cruz mountains, we face ongoing concerns of fire safety.  We must also continue to be mindful of crime which is an ever present threat to our community.  Steve will keep fire and safety concerns front and center as the town weighs new development and growth.

Currently, Los Gatos is in discussions to combine our police department with Saratoga into a single unified force. A single department means a stronger presence across the whole region, with real savings from eliminating duplicate resources. Steve supports efforts which will make all Los Gatans feel safer and more secure.

END the traffic

Every resident knows the problem: traffic during school pickup, commute hours, and summer beach travelers cutting through town. These are difficult issues, with no easy answers. But there are things we can do better. Steve will build on traffic calming with practical local solutions that make daily trips easier.
